Tickets on sale now for Williamsburg Kiwanis Tour of Homes
Ever driven by a home in Williamsburg that has really nice Christmas decorations on the outside and wondered what the decorations must look on the inside?
If so, you will have your chance to find out what the interiors of some of these homes look like later this month thanks to a two-night event being sponsored by the Williamsburg Kiwanis Club next month.
Club organizers had originally planned to name the event the “12 Nights of Christmas with tours of a dozen homes – one each night – over a 12-night period.
Instead the event’s title has been changed to the “Kiwanis Tour of Homes,” and will now feature a tour of at least 10 homes that will take place on Monday, Dec. 17, and Tuesday, Dec. 18.
The tour will be similar to the historic homes tour in April, which was part of the city’s 200th birthday celebration.
Next month’s tour will feature a mixture of homes, including some that were on the April tour along with some newer homes.
“This is just a mixture of women, who enjoy decorating. We think it will help the Christmas spirit,” said Williamsburg Kiwanis Club President Carroll “Cissy” Lunce, who is organizing the event.
Lunce said that a couple of additional homes might be added.
Proceeds from the event will go towards a Kiwanis project to purchase a mommy-baby swing for two local playgrounds.
“The swing can be used for any child up to 70 pounds with disabilities. We would like to purchase two of those for the city parks. Set up and all on two of them is going to be $12,000 so we are accepting all donations,” she noted.
The event will likely start from the parking lot of Main Street Baptist Church, and vans will be used to shuttle people between homes.
Tickets will be $30 each, and will cover both nights of the tour.
Tickets will be available for purchase starting on Monday, and will be available for sale at the Williamsburg Tourism Center, The James Baker State Farm Office and the South Union-Mt. Zion Association of Baptists office.
The State Farm and South Union-Mt. Zion offices are both located near Forcht Bank in Williamsburg.
Lunce can be contacted about the event through the Williamsburg Tourism Center at 549-0530 or Williamsburg City Hall at 549-6033.
