High School Baseball/Softball Update for Tues, April 18
The following are scores and updates from Tuesday night high school baseball and softball games…
With a 16-2 win at home against the visiting Williamsburg Yellow Jackets, the Whitley County Colonels got their revenge for a heartbreaking loss at Briar Creek Park Monday. Whitley (7-10, 1-3) will look to keep things rolling later this week when they welcome Harlan Independent to WCHS. Williamsburg (7-7, 1-3) will hope to bounce back Thursday when they go on the road to face Berea.
The Corbin Redhounds are still undefeated in 50th District play, improving to 12-3, 3-0 with an impressive 9-0 victory at South Laurel Tuesday. The Cardinals will travel to Corbin on Wednesday to play the Hounds in the rematch at Don House Field. First pitch is set for 6:00 p.m.
In the 51st District, the Lynn Camp Wildcats squared off with Knox Central, losing by the final score of 6-2. The loss drops them to 8-7, 0-2 on the year ahead of a home game Thursday against visiting White Academy, TN.
In softball action, the Williamsburg Lady Jackets made things very interesting against the South Laurel Lady Cardinals at Briar Creek Park, but the Cards were able to pull it out in the end, winning 5-2 in eight innings. Williamsburg (6-4, 1-3) will travel to face North Laurel Thursday.
Speaking of North Laurel, the Corbin Lady Hounds were in London Tuesday to face the Lady Jags. It was a tough night for the visitors, however, with the Hounds losing 12-2 to give them an overall record of 11-2 on the year. Corbin will be at Pineville Thursday.
