Corbin Tourism Director Maggie Kriebel presents JonEvan Jack’s owners Nathan Brown and Maranda Brown with the first place Burger Week Award.
JonEvan Jack’s was named the winner of Corbin Burger week on Wednesday, June 20.
The restaurant sold 633 of its “The Holy Mac” burgers. The burger consisted of an all beef patty topped with grilled macaroni and cheese, grilled onions and mushrooms, tomato and a house-made bourbon sauce.
“People want crazy food,” said Nathan Brown, owner of JonEvan Jack’s. “People are just getting tired of normal foods.”
He said, “It’s fun,” in response to being announced the winner.
Burger week is “a great opportunity to highlight our local businesses which gives it a much more personal feel. Every business owner that we have in Corbin has given their blood, sweat and tears to make their business, so to know that they have the honor of being the best of the best is really important,” said Maggy Kriebel, the Corbin tourism director.
“Not only does it help bring revenue to the community, but it brings the community together,” said Brown.
Brown recalls large groups coming into the restaurant talking about the different burgers and all ordering the Holy Mac on their quest to try them all.
Brown said that for the next couple of weeks the restaurant will be offering a few other unique option for five dollars to allow the community to try some of their “crazy” items.
The second place winner was Wrigley Taproom and Eatery’s, “The Farm Burger,” and third place was awarded to Bubby’s BBQ’s, “The Bubby’s Breakfast Cheeseburger.
