UPDATE: Remains found in Gray identified as missing Corbin man

The human remains found Monday night in Gray have been identified as a Corbin man, but investigators are still working to determine a cause of death.

Kentucky State Police Master Trooper Shane Jacobs, public affairs officer at Post 10 in Harlan, said the deceased is Adam Keith Pinkley, 34, who was reported missing in June to the Laurel County Sheriff’s Department.

Jacobs stated that the remains were positively identified based on a pace maker located at the scene.

Deputy Gilbert Acciardo stated in his initial missing person report on June 19 that Pinkley was last seen off East Cumberland Gap Pkwy. in the north Corbin area at approximately 7 a.m. on May 31.

On Aug. 20, Acciardo said the search was continuing and that the family was offering a $500 reward for information on Pinkley’s location.

Jacobs said the cause of death remains under investigation, noting detectives have not ruled out foul play, but found nothing at the scene to lead them in that direction.

“The remains consisted of bones,” Jacobs said.

State police were called to the scene off of Garland Cemetery Road Monday night after a 15-year-old, who was riding his ATV in the area, discovered the remains.

The remains were sent to the State Medical Examiner’s Office in Frankfort for an autopsy.

Detective Jake Wilson is continuing the investigation.
