Update: 2016 KHSAA tennis state championships
Day one of the 2016 KHSAA tennis state championship tournaments for singles and doubles is in the books, and here are the results for our coverage area participants…
Brady Keith/Nikhil Krishna (Corbin) lost to Chris Argo/Tanner Gann from Greenwood 6-1, 6-3 in round one.
Zane Maguet/Seth Maguet (Corbin) lost to Keaton Hall/Denton Heffington from Pikeville in a tiebreaker in round one.
Chris Tan (Whitley Co) beat Eddie Lam from McCracken County 6-4, 6-4 in round one, and then lost to Adam Slone from LCA in a tiebreaker in round two.
Ellie Jane Carloftis/Jaclyn Jewell (Corbin) beat Brooke Hodory/Mia Smith from Highlands 6-1, 6-0 in round one, and then beat Bailey Hubbard/Kayley Miller from Clay County 6-0, 6-0 in round two. They will play Bailey Hume/Jaclyn Hume from Daviess County in round three Friday at 10:30 am at UK.
Emily Morton/Cora Bo Stevens (Corbin) lost to Caroline Hager/Grace Headley from Sayre 6-3, 6-2 in round one.
Hannah Thomas (Williamsburg) beat Rebecca Price from Bullitt Central 6-0, 6-2 in round one, and then advanced against Mariko Chou from Manual after Chou sustained an injury in round two. She will play defending state champion and number one overall seed Michelle McKamey of McCracken County Friday at 8:00 am at UK.
Anna Grace Zehr (Whitley Co) lost to Kelley Barker from Franklin County 6-3, 6-2 in round one.
And Samantha Spady (Corbin) lost to Madison Hill from Greenup County 6-4, 6-1 in round one.
