Tuesday Night Highlights – February 14, 2017
The Corbin Redhounds traveled to London Tuesday night for a showdown with another of the 13th Region’s top teams – the North Laurel Jaguars.
The Hounds led 14-13 at the end of the first quarter, but junior Andrew Taylor already found himself in some foul trouble. Corbin took a 29-22 lead with them into the half, and they still led at the end of three quarters, 44-36. North battled back, however, and midway through the fourth the game was all knotted up at 46-46.
Taylor would foul out with his team down by just one point with 47 seconds left in regulation. The Jags sunk a couple of free throws, and were able to hold on to pick up the 52-49 victory. Corbin only scored five points in the fourth quarter. Taylor and Chase Sanders both had 14 points on the night.
With the loss, the Redhounds fall to 22-5 ahead of their regular season finale later this week at Harlan Independent.
Also Tuesday, the Whitley County Colonels fell to 10-18 on the year when they suffered a narrow loss on the road at Rockcastle County, 63-59.
And the Williamsburg girls were able to secure their sixth win of the last seven outings, defeating Lynn Camp in Corbin, 48-39.
The Lynn Camp boys also traveled to Harlan Tuesday, but a final score for that contest is not currently available.
