Sheriff: Lily man intoxicated when he hit his mother
Laurel County Sheriff’s deputies say a Lily man has been drinking heavily prior to assaulting his mother and destroying items throughout the residence Thursday afternoon.
Thirty-six-year-old Timothy W. Jones is facing charges of fourth-degree assault – domestic violence and public intoxication stemming from the incident off of Echo Valley Road.
According to Sheriff John Root, deputies Kyle Gray and Travis Napier were called to the scene in response to a complaint that a male subject, later identified as Jones, had allegedly struck his mother.
When deputies arrived at the scene, they determined that Jones was under the influence of alcohol. Jones reportedly told deputies that he had been drinking all day and later struck his mother in the back of the heat and destroyed items in the residence.
Deputy Gilbert Acciardo, the department’s public affairs officer, said Jones struck the woman with his hands causing minor injuries.
The woman declined to go to the hospital.
Acciardo said deputies did not provide and estimate of the property damage.
Jones remains in the Laurel County Detention Center on a $1,000 cash bond. He is scheduled to be arraigned in Laurel District Court on Monday.
According to Laurel County Jail Tracker, Jones has multiple arrests on drug and alcohol-related and domestic violence charges.
The most recent occurred in June 2012 when Jones was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs, operating on a suspended/revoked operator’s license, possession of marijuana and tampering with physical evidence.
In March 2011, Jones was charged with fourth-degree assault – domestic violence and alcohol intoxication in a public place.
In May 2009, Jones was charged with violation of a Kentucky E.P.O/D.V.O.
