A semi truck driver narrowly missed going over an embankment following a two-vehicle crash on I-75 in Whitley County Friday evening.
The accident happened about 7:45 p.m. near the 7.5 mile marker in the northbound lane.
A 2014 Freightliner, which was owned by Darren Monhollen of BRM Trucking in Williamsburg, was heading north on I-75 when it sideswiped an S-10 pick-up truck, which was parked along side the road, said Emlyn Volunteer Fire Chief Matt Witt.
The tractor portion of the vehicle hit the guardrail with its front wheels coming to rest over the guardrail and a portion of the vehicle coming to rest on the guardrail, Witt said.
No one had to be extricated, and there were no injuries. No one was in the pick-up truck at the time.
The semi’s trailer was empty.
Witt said that he didn’t know the identity of the semi driver, but apparently he was returning back to Williamsburg when the crash took place.
About nine Emlyn firefighters responded to the scene to help provide traffic control. Whitley County EMS and Whitley County Emergency Management Director Danny Moses also assisted at the scene.
Kentucky State Police are investigating the crash.
