Second of three federal defendants plead guilty in conspiracy to distribute meth in Whitley Co.

The second of three people accused of conspiring to distribute methamphetamine in Whitley County pleaded guilty Thursday in U.S. District Court in London.

Thirty-nine-year-old Roy Allen West of Williamsburg pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute 500 grams or more of a mixture or substance containing a detectable amount of methamphetamine.

According to the plea agreement, West admitted that between June 2015 and May 2016, he conspired with co-defendants Ladonna Collett and Justin Bell.

“Specifically, the Defendant (West) worked together with others, including Ladonna Collett, to obtain over 500 grams of methamphetamine from multiple sources of supply for the purpose of distribution in the Eastern District of Kentucky,” West admitted in the plea agreement. “On at least one occasion, the Defendant contributed money to Ladonna Collett, who traveled to Georgia to obtain more than 500 grams of methamphetamine from sources of supply. The Defendant assisted in the distribution of the methamphetamine Collett returned from Georgia.”

West faces 10 years to life in prison when he is formally sentenced on March 7.

Bell pleaded guilty to his part in the conspiracy on November 1.

According to Bell’s plea agreement, he also provided money to Collett to purchase methamphetamine from sources of supply in Georgia and then received a portion of the methamphetamine to distribute in the Whitley County area.

A confidential informant working with law enforcement purchased a total of 66.8 grams (2.35 ounces) of methamphetamine from Bell on three separate occasions.

Bell is also scheduled to be formally sentenced on March 7.

Collett is scheduled to be rearraigned on November 16.
