Poff Carting bought by Waste Connections of Kentucky

Two of the largest trash collection companies in the area are merging.

Todd Poff, owner of Poff Carting in London, confirmed that the company has been sold to Waste Connections of Kentucky for an undisclosed sum.

The deal was finalized May 1.

“We got to the point where we had a good opportunity,” said Todd Poff who owns the company along with Gerald Poff, noting that Waste Connections is the third largest garbage service company in the world.

Todd Poff said as part of the agreement, Waste Connections will retain the 28 Poff employees.

“I honestly think this will be beneficial to out employees and customers,” Todd Poff said.

Poff Carting was started in 2002, building up to serve approximately 25,000 customers across seven counties throughout southeast and central Kentucky, including: Whitley, Knox, Laurel, Bell, Clay, Jackson and Madison Counties.

Poff Carting and Waste Connections competed in five of those counties, including: Whitley, Knox, Laurel, Jackson and Madison Counties.

“People have been very good to us,” Todd Poff said. “We appreciate our customers.”
