Pair of National Day of Prayer events planned in Williamsburg Thursday
Local officials are planning two events in Williamsburg Thursday in conjunction with The National Day of Prayer.
Tyler Johnson, youth minister at First Baptist Church in Williamsburg, will be the keynote speaker at the 19th Annual Williamsburg Kiwanis Club National Day of Prayer Pancake Breakfast Thursday morning.
The event will be held at the Williamsburg Tourism and Convention Center starting at 7:30 a.m.
Special music will be provided by Scott and Leslie Pastore.
Tickets are $10 for adults. Children’s tickets are $5. Children ages six and under eat for free.
Proceeds go to support area children through Kiwanis projects and scholarships.
Kiwanis International is a global organization of volunteers dedicated to changing the world one child and one community at a time.
There are about 8,000 clubs in 80 nations with more than 260,000 adult members and 320,000 youth.
Kiwanis clubs across the globe sponsor nearly 150,000 service projects and raise nearly $100 million every year.
At noon Thursday, a Pray for America Unity Rally will take place on the courthouse square in Williamsburg.
Mt. Ash Baptist Church Pastor Billy Carpenter will lead the event.
