UPDATE: London man killed in Friday night wreck on Corbin bypass
A motorcycle rider was killed late Friday night on the Corbin bypass when his bike struck a car and both vehicles caught fire.
Whitley County Coroner Andy Croley identified the victim as 38-year-old Roger Lee Wilson of London.
“They found helmets at the scene, but he was not wearing one,” Croley said of Wilson.
Corbin firefighters said the wreck involving the motorcycle, car and a pickup truck occurred just before 11 p.m. about three-quarters of a mile west of the intersection of the bypass and Ky. 26.
Firefighters said the motorcycle was traveling east when it collided with the car, flipping the rider from the bike.
A pickup truck following the motorcycle attempted to avoid the crash, running over the prone rider in the process and dragging him up the road. When the truck stopped, the rider remained trapped underneath.
Firefighters said a woman and two children were in the car while a single male occupied the pickup.
The man and woman were both taken to the hospital as a precaution.
A Kentucky State Police accident reconstructionist was called to the scene.
The road was closed to traffic until 5:47 a.m.
Corbin Police, Corbin Fire Department, Kentucky State Police, Knox County EMS and Croley responded to the scene.
