Motorcyclist thrown from bike on Cumberland Falls Road Friday
A man riding a Harley Davison motorcycle without a helmet wrecked Friday afternoon after his kick-stand came down and locked into place, sending him airborne.
Michael Riggleman, of HWY 25 N in Williamsburg was heading northbound on Highway 90 when the accident occurred just before 4 p.m. Responding was Whitley County Sheriff’s deputies and Oak Grove Fire Department.
Deputies say that when the kick-stand came down, it launched Riggleman into the air and into a nearby fence.
“As soon as he wrecked, he hit the fence,” said the responding Deputy. “He said he was laying beside of (the motorcycle) and it burst into flames.” Riggleman rolled away from the fire.
The fence burned along with the motorcycle until firefighters arrived.
Riggleman was sent to Baptist Health with a gash to his head and scrapes on his arms. He was fully conscious, making him able to tell deputies what happened.
