Milford Herman Tate
Milford Herman Tate, 93, of Corbin, passed away on Sunday November 13, 2016 at Baptist Health in Corbin.
He was born in Sandy Huff, VA to the late Denny B. Tate and Lena Williams Tate.
He attended Virginia Tech and he was a self- employed heating and air technician servicing Clay, Laurel, Whitley and Knox counties for the better part of 60 years.
Milford was a member of Green Mount Baptist Church in London.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Elizabeth Peddicord Tate who preceded him in death on Feb. 17, 2004; sons, David and Gene Tate; siblings, Ken Tate, Charlotte Tate Moore, Bernard Tate; and by a daughter-in-law, Cheryl Tate.
Milford is survived by his son, Dennis R. Tate and wife Pat; daughter, Lee Karen Tate Parks and husband Jeff; grandchildren; Christopher B. Tate (Donna); David J. Tate (Amanda); Dr. Andrew B. Parks (Kristin); Ashley Tate; Kayla McFarland (Ryan); and Sarah E. Parks; great grandchildren; Jonathan R. Tate, Sophie E. Tate, Kennedy R. Floyd, Parker E. Gray, Cooper McFarland, Gracie McFarland, Morgan A. Tate, Conner, and Alexsa Culver; and by several nephews and nieces who loved and respected him. He will also be missed by his neighborhood family; Tim, Dee, Tanner, Abe, and Phyllis Barnes; Tim Donna, Hannah, and Hunter Logan, and by special friends, Janene Sawyers, Clell Brock, and Tracie Tate and by his constant companion his dog Scooter.
Funeral service for Milford Tate will be held at 1 p.m. on Saturday November 19, at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home with Pastor Dennis R. Tate and Pastor Weyman McGuire officiating.
Burial will follow in Cumberland Memorial Gardens in Lily.
Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. on Saturday Nov. 19th at the Vankirk-Grisell Funeral Home, where messages may be written to the family at www.vankirkgrisellfuneralhome.com.
