Man ejected from car suffers only minor injuries
Three people suffered relatively minor injuries following a crash late Monday morning on Highway 92E, including one man, who was ejected from this 2002 Acura RSX, which is seen at left.
A Georgia man, who is originally from Whitley County, suffered minor injuries after being ejected from a car following a two-vehicle crash Monday morning in eastern Whitley County that sent three people to area hospitals for treatment.
The accident happened shortly after 11 a.m. Monday at the intersection of Ky. 92E, Highway 1064 in the Whetstone area.
Sarah Vanover, 25, of Sandy Branch, was driving her 2002 Jeep Liberty on Ky. 92E going towards Williamsburg when her vehicle collided with a 2002 Acura RSX, which was driven by Christopher Dillon, 34.
Whitley County Sheriff’s Deputy John Hill, who investigated the crash, said that Dillon was coming from
Whetstone and was attempting to cross Ky. 92E when the wreck happened.
Apparently neither driver saw the other’s vehicle prior to the collision.
The collision occurred on the front driver’s side of the car and the front passenger’s side of the Jeep.
The force of the crash caused Christopher Dillon, who was not wearing a seatbelt, to be ejected from his vehicle.
“He has some scrapes and stuff from sliding on the ground and he has what looks like will be a broken thumb.
Other than that I guess he is fine,” Hill said. “He was up walking around talking after the accident.”
Hill noted that Dillon was “very” lucky not to have suffered more serious injuries.
Both Vanover and Dillon’s passenger, J.P. Dillon, 28, were wearing his seatbelts.
Vanover was complaining of pain in her chest.
“I don’t know if it was from the seatbelt or if she was injured,” Hill said.
J.P. Dillon was complaining of injuries to his legs.
Whitley County EMS transported Vanover to Baptist Health Corbin.
Whitley County EMS transported both Christopher Dillon and J.P. Dillon to Jellico Community Hospital.
None of the injuries were believed to be life threatening.
Patterson Creek Volunteer Fire Department assisted at the scene.
