KY Senate President Robert Stivers to speak at Chamber of Commerce luncheon

Kentucky Senate President Robert Stivers.
Kentucky Senate President Robert Stivers will talk about the 2019 legislative session of the General Assembly, and changes to state worker’s compensation rules, next Tuesday at the Southern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce monthly membership luncheon.
Stivers (R-Manchester) has been a member of the Kentucky Senate since 1997. He served as Majority Floor Leader from 2009-2012 and became only the second Republican President of the Senate in 2012 with the departure of David Williams.
He currently serves on the Committee on Committees, Judiciary and Rules Committees, and is co-chair of the Legislative Research Commission.
In private life, Stivers is a practicing attorney. His wife, Regina Stivers, is Deputy Secretary of the Kentucky Tourism, Arts and Heritage Cabinet.
Bruce Carpenter, Executive Director of the Southern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce, said the upcoming session of the General Assembly should be interesting, and he’s hopeful Stivers will give a detailed view of the important issues expected to be addressed.
“We’ve had a lot of interest in this luncheon, so there should be a really good crowd to hear Senator Stivers speak,” Carpenter said. “Anyone wanting to attend is encouraged to RSVP as soon as possible.”
Carpenter also said Stivers will discuss “good news regarding lower Workers Compensation rates.”
“I think that’s definitely something that will be important to our members and the business community in general,” Carpenter said.
The luncheon will be held next Tuesday, Oct. 9 at The Corbin Center. It will begin at 11:45 a.m.
The event will be sponsored by SEKRI and catered by La Donna’s Catering.
The public is invited to attend. Cost of lunch is $12.
