Important information on First Priority Volleyball Classic
The following is some important information pertaining to this weekend’s First Priority Volleyball Classic…
DATES: Friday, September 16 and Saturday, September 17.
LOCATIONS: Whitley County High School, Middle School and Intermediate School gymnasiums.
NUMBER OF MATCHES and SCORING: All teams will get a minimum of five matches. Each match will be best of three sets. The first two sets will be to 25, win by two (no cap). The third set will be first to 15, win by two (also no cap).
TIE BREAKING/SEEDING: There will be two phases of the classic – pool play and tournament play. There are three pools of five teams. Each team will play the other four teams in their pool once. Standings will be tracked by record. If two teams have an identical record, the tie breaker will be the head-to-head matchup between those teams. If three or more teams have an identical record, the tie breaker will be overall point margin.
The top three teams from each pool will advance to the Gold Bracket. The bottom two teams from each pool will play in the Silver Bracket. Seeding for the brackets will be based on the standings of pool play, in order of the following tie breakers – 1. Place in pool, 2. Record, 3. Number of sets lost, 4. Point differential, 5. Coin flip.
Standings will be tracked on a standings board at all three venues so teams will be able to keep up with where they stand.
AWARDS: Awards will be presented to the overall first and second place teams, and an All-Tournament team will be chosen.
The championship team will get a Most Valuable Player and two all-tourney picks. Runner-up will get two all-tourney picks. All other teams will get one all-tourney pick.
