‘Grounded’ selected as theme for TedxCorbin event on March 9
“Grounded” has been selected as the theme for the upcoming TedxCorbin event.
Organizers said the theme was chosen as the people of Central Appalachia are deeply routed and espouse a pride in their upbringing.
At the same time, the growing globalization, requires changes to permit a community to move forward.
“We’ll hear from a diversity of voices exploring what it means to move ourselves forward together,” officials stated on the tedxcorbin.com website. “We’ll ground ourselves in the bonds we share and together we’ll examine how we got here and where we go next.”
The March 9 event in downtown Corbin will focus on the resurgence in downtown Corbin, which flies in the face of what other small town downtowns are experiencing
The next step in organizing the event is to select the speakers.
Nominations for speakers are currently being accepted and may be made at the tedxcorbin website.
“We are eager to hear diverse voices and encourage individuals from all backgrounds, industries, and disciplines to apply,” officials stated. “Above all, we are in pursuit of ideas worth spreading.”
Tickets for the event, which will be held at Second and Main, an event space in the former JC Penney building in downtown Corbin, will go on sale in January.
In addition to the live event, the event will be live-streamed. Organizers are looking for additional locations willing to host a community watch party.
