A London man died when his motorcycle struck a pickup truck Saturday evening in Gray.
About 8:51 p.m., Kentucky State Police responded to a report of a crash on Ky. 1232.
The preliminary investigation revealed that Robert Eads, 37, was riding a blue Kawasaki motorcycle east on Ky. 1232 when he crossed the centerline into the westbound lane and struck a 2010 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck head on, KSP Trooper Shane Jacobs said in a release.
Knox County Ambulance Service transported Eads from the scene to Baptist Health Corbin where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Eads’ 23-year-old passenger from Gray was transported from the scene and flown to the University of Kentucky Medical Center for treatment of her injuries.
As of early Sunday morning, she was listed in critical but stable condition, according to the KSP release.
The operator and passenger in the pickup truck were both transported to Baptist Health Corbin where they were treated for minor injuries and released.
“KSP is continuing to investigate if drugs or alcohol are a contributing factor in the collision,” Jacobs wrote.
So far, police haven’t released the name of Eads’ passenger, or the names of the occupants of the pickup truck.
KSP Trooper Josh Cox is continuing the collision investigation. KSP Trooper Josh Messer and Sgt. Jimmy Anderson, members of the West Knox Volunteer Fire Department and the Knox County Sheriff’s Department assisted at the scene.
