Former Lady Hound, MSU Eagle Hannah Hart nominated for Kentucky Prep Softball Hall of Fame

Former Corbin Lady Hounds softball standout Hannah Hart has been nominated for induction into the Kentucky Prep Softball Hall of Fame next summer during the Annual East/West All-Star game, to be held at the University of the Cumberlands.

Hart was an All-State selection all four years of her high school career, and she was chosen as the Kentucky Softball Coaches Association’s Player of the Year for middle-size schools in 2012 and 2013.

Hart went on to play collegiately at Morehead State University, making her the first-and-only D-I softball player to come out of Corbin High School. While at MSU, she earned All-OVC Academic honors.

Hart will join her father, former Lady Hounds Head Coach Chris Hart, in the KY Prep Hall of Fame when she is inducted next year. When asked about his daughter and former star player, Coach Hart said, “She is the hardest working player that I’ve ever been around. I went into the Hall of Fame in 2015, and as exciting as it was for me, to see your child go in is ten times more exciting. She has put in the hard work, though, and is very deserving of this honor.”

KY Prep Softball Director, and former News Journal Sports Editor Jim McAlister said of Hart, “She has worked our East/West game, and helped with the Kentucky/Tennessee game since she was in middle school. It was really a no-brainer. She had an excellent career on the field, but her off-the-field contributions really helped to get her in there as well.”

Hart was recognized by the News Journal several times during her playing days at CHS, earning County Player of the Year honors as a junior in 2013. She would have been a frontrunner to repeat as a senior in 2014, but there was a gap in Player of the Year nominations at that time after McAlister was forced to step away from his duties as Sports Editor due to health issues.
