Former Dino’s building sells again with plans for steakhouse

After sitting vacant for more than two years after it was ordered closed for unpaid sales and withholding taxes, the former Dino’s Italian Restaurant in Corbin will get a new lease on life as Sagebrush Steakhouse.

The former Dino’s Italian Restaurant has been sold and will become Sagebrush Steakhouse.

Officials with the restaurant chain confirmed Thursday that they had purchased the building on U.S. 25W off of Exit 25.

It will mark the second location in Kentucky, joining the one in Middlesboro

The company currently has 20 locations across North Carolina, Virginia, Tennessee and Kentucky.

The restaurant features hand-cut steaks, in addition to ribs, seafood, chicken burgers, sandwiches and fresh salads.

The restaurant will undergo a full renovation to match the southwestern atmosphere of the steakhouse.

Dino’s was ordered closed in December 2016 for failure to pay more than $100,000 in taxes dating back to February 2013.

The total amount owed was $86,283.15 when an agreed order was entered in Franklin Circuit Court to have The Arrow Group, LLC repay the back taxes to Kentucky Revenue Cabinet.

By July 20, 2016, the amount owed had grown to $101,854.51.

As of October 2016, the debt was $87,859.40.

In August 2017, a Master Commissioner Deed was filed with the Whitley County Clerk concerning the property.

According to the deed the building and property were sold to Lester Stewart of Paint Lick for $905,000.

Stewart said the plan was to renovate the building and turn it into a sports bar and restaurant in partnership with Jeff Gillum.

However the work soon ceased and building sat empty.
