First Knox County ‘Dumpster Days’ set to kick off Saturday

Knox County Judge Executive Mike Mitchell sat down to talk trash last Friday. His purpose was to unveil a simple plan that he hopes will, “Clean up our community.”

The name about says it all, as he explained, when Saturday, April 6^th kicks off the first ever, “Dumpster Days” in Knox County. Three Saturdays in April and one in May will be devoted to helping Knox Countians do some free and convenient decluttering and spring cleaning.

“It’s the first time we’ve tried something like this, but we’d rather give folks a chance to get rid of their trash,” he said, in an effort to promote clean-up efforts in the area and to warn of the residual effects of improper dumping.

On Saturday, April 6^th from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Richland and Bailey Switch Fire Departments, dumpsters will be free for the public to fill with anything they no longer want or need. The only exceptions are hazardous items like tires, brush, wood, paint, oil and chemicals.

On Aril 13^th, dumpster sites will be located at GR Hampton Elementary School and Poplar Creek Fire Department.

On April 27^th, Lynn Camp High School and Wilton Cemetery Road off of Rt. 6 will host dumpster sites.

Then on May 4^th, dumpsters will be available at Dewitt and Artemus Schools, and East Knox Fire Department.

Attendants will be on hand to help with disposal.
