Firefighters extricate one person following rear-end collision on U.S. 25E
A two-vehicle wreck involving a Chevrolet Lumina and a Jeep Wagoneer sent two people to the hospital Thursday afternoon.
The wreck occurred about 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of U.S. 25E and Ky. 830 when the Wagoneer rear-ended the Lumina.
Virginia Collins of Bowling Green, the driver of the Wagoneer said she saw the Lumina attempt to stop in front of her for the traffic light but when she stepped on the brakes, nothing happened.
“I had no brakes. No nothing,” Collins said, adding that she attempted to shift the Jeep out of gear but it wouldn’t shift.
West Knox firefighters were called to extricate the driver of the Lumina, whose name was not immediately available.
Collins said she was taking her son to Union College in Barbourville.
Collins’ son and the driver of the Lumina were both taken by ambulance to Baptist Health Corbin.
Southbound traffic on U.S. 25E was reduced to one lane as emergency personnel work to clear the scene.
Kentucky State Police are continuing the investigation.
