Cumberland Valley Cruise-In’s return in May
The Cumberland Valley Cruise-In is starting its engines on its 18th season beginning in May.
The gathering of classic and custom cars, trucks, vans and motorcycles will be held in May, June July, and September on Main Street in Corbin.
“We have tripled in size and we just don’t have any room to have it down at Cumberland Falls anymore,” said Chris McQueen, one of the event organizers.
In previous years, two the cruise-ins would be held at the parking lot near the falls
McQueen said when the first cruise-ins were held, there were approximately 100 vehicles on display.
“Last year, we had between 350 and 400 cars at each event with 3,000 to 4,000 people in attendance,” McQueen said.
The first cruise in is scheduled for May 18. It will be run from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.
The vehicles will be on display along Main Street between Fourth and Gordon Streets.
In addition McQueen said there will be games for the children, train rides along Main Street, and cash giveaways.
“We will also have a live DJ again to provide musical entertainment.
McQueen said event officials want to work with the downtown restaurants.
“We don’t have food vendors, but encourage everyone to check out the downtown establishments that offer a variety off food,” McQueen said.
McQueen said the downtown merchants he has spoken with have voiced their support for the event.
“A lot of the folks that will come to the cruise in have never been to the downtown restaurants,” McQueen said. “Others, when they come downtown for the event, they go straight to those restaurants.”
McQueen said craft vendors are welcome and encouraged to bring their items and set up a booth in NIBROC Park.
“Anyone that would like to be a vendor should contact us,” McQueen said explaining vendors may message McQueen or other officials through Facebook.
