Corbin woman charged with promoting contraband after jailers find drugs

A Corbin woman arrested on a vandalism charge, added drug possession and promoting contraband charges after Laurel County Deputy Jailers found her in possession of Suboxone.

Laurel County Sheriff’s Deputy Gilbert Acciardo, the department’s public affairs officer, said Theresa R. Henson, 56, was initially arrested Wednesday afternoon after deputies investigated a vandalism complaint at Corbin Manor Apartments on American Greeting Road.

Deputies noted damage to wood siding attached to a building at the complex and through the course of the investigation, learned that a female subject, later identified as Henson, had allegedly used a knife to carve above her door.

Henson was charged with first-degree criminal mischief and transported to the Laurel County Correctional Facility.

As part of the intake process, deputy jailers conducted a search, locating the Suboxone inside her female body cavity.

Henson was charged with first-degree promoting contraband, controlled substance prescription not in original container and first-degree criminal mischief.

Acciardo said previously that when a deputy is transporting an inmate to the jail, the deputy will give the inmate one last chance to divulge anything that may be considered contraband including weapons and drugs.
