Corbin woman arrested on drug charges at Exit 15 Shell Station

An investigation into two suspicious vehicles that were parked at an Exit 15 gas station has resulted in the arrest of a Corbin woman.

On Thursday evening, Whitley County Sheriff’s Deputy Brian Hensley observed two suspicious vehicles in the parking lot of the Shell Station.

One of the vehicles was a black Mitsubishi Eclipse that Hensley had found drugs in before at the same location, Sheriff Colan Harrell said in a release.

Hensley and Deputy Joe Prewitt made contact with the four people next to the vehicles, including a woman, who acted very nervous and gave Hensley a false name and social security number, the release stated.

Hensley didn’t believe the woman and he worked with Whitley County E911 Dispatch to find out her real name and social security number, which was Trevia Aker of Corbin. She had three warrants for her arrest.

Hensley then asked the drivers of both parked vehicles for permission to search the vehicles, which was granted.

In the vehicle that Aker had been riding inside, Hensley located a makeup bag containing several used needles and one needle that had an unknown liquid substance inside it. Also located in the same vehicle behind the passenger seat was a pop can allegedly used to melt drugs into a liquid form to be used in a needle, which also had an unknown drug residue on it, the release stated.

When Hensley talked to Aker, she admitted that the items were hers and the substance in the needle and on the pop can was Opana pain medication. She also allegedly advised that she had a drug problem and has had one for some time, the release stated.

Hensley arrested Aker charging her with giving an officer a false name, first-degree possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. In addition, Hensley also served Aker with the three arrest warrants and lodged her in the Whitley County Detention Center.

Aker is being held in jail in lieu of a $10,000 cash bond in this case, and in lieu of a $2,500 cash bond in one of her previous cases.

The sheriff’s department press release indicates Aker’s age is 33, but the detention center’s website lists her age as 35.

Hensley was assisted at the scene by Prewitt, Williamsburg police and Whitley County E911 Dispatch.
