Corbin still accepting entries for its 2017 Christmas parade
Groups, clubs, businesses, agencies and organizations are invited to participate in the annual Corbin Christmas Parade.
Tourism Director Maggy Kriebel, who is organizing the parade, said the fourth annual parade is scheduled to roll up North Main Street at 7 p.m. on Dec. 2.
Participants are welcome to ride or walk in the parade.
Participants are encouraged to do their utmost to display their Christmas spirit with one exception.
“The tourism commission will have the one-and-only Santa Claus in the parade,” Kriebel said.
Kriebel said there is no theme that participants must adhere to.
“We don’t do themes,” Kriebel said explaining that participants may decorate their entries as they see fit.
Awards will be given out to the best entries in each of three categories as selected by a three-person panel of judges.
Plaques will be presented to the best entry in commercial, youth and non-profit categories.
“Each entry will be judged based on originality, durability, design and costume and casting,” Kriebel said.
The deadline for entries is Nov. 27.
Lineup will begin at 6 p.m. in the Corbin City Hall parking lot. The parade route will go up Main Street to Gordon Street and then turn back to disburse on Kentucky Ave.
Applications to participate are available at the tourism office at The Corbin Center, online at www.corbinkytourism.com, or by calling the tourism office at 528-8860. There is no entry fee.
“We are just looking for as many people as possible to participate,” Kriebel said.
