Corbin man found to be Missouri fugitive

A Corbin man who is wanted in Missouri will be going back to answer the charges following his arrest Friday morning.

According to Laurel County Sheriff John Root, deputies arrested 31-year-old Aubrey Blankenship off Flatwoods Road in Keavy after deputies developed information concerning his whereabouts.

Deputy Craig Sutton and Cpl. Jack Caudill acted on the information just before noon and took Blankenship into custody without incident.

Root stated that Blankenship was wanted in Missouri for probation violation.

Missouri officials advised that they would be seeking to extradite Blankenship.

Deputy Gilbert Acciardo, the department’s public affairs officer, said the warrant gave no information as to the nature of the original offense, or the county or arresting agency.

Blankenship is being held in the Laurel County Correctional Facility on a $25,000 cash bond.

No court date for Blankenship’s extradition hearing has been set.
