Corbin man facing felony DUI charge
A Corbin man is facing a felony DUI charge following his fourth DUI arrest Thursday afternoon in Barbourville.
Bob Homer Cox, 33, was arrested Thursday afternoon after police were called to investigate a two-vehicle collision on Martin Street.
“Above (Cox) stated he had came around the curve and the truck started sliding and he struck the other vehicle pushing it into the front yard of the National Guard Armory causing severe damage to the other vehicle,” Barbourville Police Officer Eric Martin wrote in the arrest citation. “Officer found the above to be operating the vehicle on a DUI suspended license.”
Martin stated that while speaking with Cox, he noticed he had red glossy eyes and slurred speech.
After Cox failed several field sobriety tests, he was placed under arrest.
Upon searching Cox’s vehicle, officers located to marijuana cigarettes.
“While en route to Barbourville ARH at his own will the above (Cox) stated that he had relapsed and was using Methamphetamine.
Cox was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol/drugs/etc. – fourth or greater offense, first-degree wanton endangerment, driving on a DUI suspended license – third offense, license to be in possession, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Cox was lodged in the Knox County Detention Center where he is being held on a $5,000 cash bond.
