Corbin man accused of using rock in assault
A Corbin man is facing an assault charge for allegedly hitting another man in the head with a rock Thursday night.
Twenty-year-old Jesse Robinson was arrested outside the residence on Chips Lane off of Willie Green Road west of London.
Laurel County Sheriff’s Deputy Gilbert Acciardo, the department’s public affairs officer, said Deputy Tommy Houston was dispatched to the scene in response to a 911 call about a fight in progress.
Acciardo said while in route Houston found Robinson walking along the roadway, detained him and proceeded on to the residence.
At the residence, witnesses told Houston that Robinson had gotten into a fight with Andrew Brown and, at some point, Robinson had struck Brown in the back of the head with a large stone.
The blow left a laceration on Brown’s head.
Robinson was charged with one count of second-degree assault.
In addition, Robinson faces one count of third-degree criminal trespassing as Houston reported that he had been warned via text message prior to the altercation not to come onto the property.
Robinson is being held without bond in the Laurel County Detention Center.
Under Kentucky law, second-degree assault is a Class C felony, carrying a potential sentence of five to ten years in prison.
