Williamsburg police arrested a write-in candidate for Whitley County Sheriff Monday afternoon following an incident outside Pilot Travel Center where a gun was discharged.
Williamsburg Police Lt. Bobby Freeman arrested James R. Walden, 54, of Williamsburg, charging him with first-degree wanton endangerment, which is a class ‘D’ felony punishable by up to five years in prison.
Walden contended during a telephone interview early Tuesday evening that there was no wanton endangerment and that he fired his gun in defense of himself and other people at Pilot Monday.
