Woodbine man arrested for calling police 30 times while drunk
A Knox County man who decided to give local police officers some extra activity Sunday evening was arrested and charged with falsely reporting an accident after allegedly making approximately 30 calls to state and local authorities while intoxicated.
According to witness reports, Jesse L. Baker, 30 of Tower Road in Woodbine, was bored and decided to get drunk Sunday evening. After the fact, he made numerous calls to the Knox and Whitley County Sheriff’s Departments, as well as the Kentucky State Police filing false reports in the process.
Baker’s claims ranged from someone being on his roof, him suffering from an overdose and even one claiming the man was stuck in a nearby tree.
When officers arrived at his home, the man was found alone in his residence and was reportedly highly intoxicated. Deputies arrested Baker, but his removal from the property did not go as smoothly as officials had hoped for.
According to Woodbine Fire Chief Rick Fore, crews from his department were dispatched to the scene for lifting assistance in removing the man from his mobile home, which was about four to five feet in the air due to the trailer sitting on blocks.
"It was a little ways up in the air," Fore said. "There were no steps, so they called us out there to help out.
"Apparently the man was pretty intoxicated and had made a bunch of phone calls."
