Woman in serious condition after being stabbed; two arrested, one charged with attempted murder

On Tuesday at approximately 8:15 p.m. the Whitley County Sheriff’s Department were dispatched to a call at 18503 Hwy 92E, the caller stated there had been an altercation between two females and one of the females had been stabbed five or six times. The caller stated that the stabbing victim was being taken to Jellico Hospital by a family member.
Deputy Shawn Jackson responded to the scene of the altercation where witness said that Virginia Fry and Arlis McKiddy had fled the scene prior to his arrival. Deputy Jackson located Fry and McKiddy less than a mile from the scene at 19954 Hwy 92E. Deputy Jackson was told by the occupants of that residence that Fry and McKiddy had fled upon his arrival. Deputy Jackson obtained consent to search the residence where he found Fry and McKiddy hiding in the laundry room.
Deputy John Hill met the victim at the Jellico Hospital, where he obtained statements from the victim. The victim, Erica Petrey Canada, was stabbed six times, with the most serious injury being sustained to the chest. Ms. Canada was flew to the University of Tennessee Medical Center, where as of 3:00 a.m. she was listed in serious condition.
Deputy Jackson and Hill returned to the scene with Fry and McKiddy, where witnesses stated McKiddy had removed the weapon from the scene. Deputies gained consent to search the residence of Arliss McKiddy, where he directed deputies to the clothes he was wearing during the incident, which appeared to have blood on them. McKiddy also showed a deputies a large kitchen knife, which was in the sink and had been washed, which he stated was the weapon used in the stabbing.
Deputy Shawn Jackson arrested Virginia L. Fry, age 30, of 18893 Hwy 92E, charging her with attempted murder and tampering with physical evidence. Also charged was Arlis McKiddy, of 18893 Hwy 92E, with tampering with physical evidence. Both were lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center. Deputy Shawn Jackson is leading the investigation and was assisted by Deputy John Hill.

I am the victim, in this incident. And I am STILL in University of Tennessee Medical Center from the serious injuries I Had sustained from Virginia Frye I had went to get a burnt cd, from my friend Hollie. Which lived next door to the woman who almost stabbed ME to death! She had called my home, numerous times, accusing me of stealing her clothes, which is a ball faced lie. I am not a thief. And she had threatened me and my children. And when I had went up to my friend’s house, I could see Virginia flailing her arms, and screaming obscenities and screaming at me, that she was gonna kill me. And kept screaming insane things like this and more, at my vehicle. She was acting like she was mental or something, in my opinion. I got out of the vehicle and got the last thing that I had EVER expected. She was screaming, and I asked her what her problem was, and she said I’m gonna kill you bitch! We had a couple of cross words and she lunged at me with the knife that was already in her hand, FROM the beginning, before I ever pulled into my friend’s driveway. I never figured, in a million years that she was going to STAB ME in the chest. I saw the knife coming towards me, the knife caught me right in the chest and then I swung and hit her, on my way to the ground. And she stabbed me in the legs (the worst being in my right leg, towards the back of it) when I was trying to get away from her. And in my right arm, which was pretty deep as well. And she just kept stabbing, randomly, but intently, everywhere she could to try to hit me with the white handled knife. And she raised up above me, to stab yet again with the knife, (I believe she was aiming for my face or throat) but as she was coming back down on top of me, I threw my leg up, and kicked her in the face, all the while trying to get away from this crazy woman that had attacked me. I kicked her twice in the face before she got off of me. And she only got off of me then, because of my boyfriend, DRAGGING HER OFF OF ME!!! And she was still, lunging at me and cussing. But I’ve got truthful witnesses that seen what happened. And this woman has been doing nothing, but, tormenting, and threatening my family, and she almost succeeded in what she was bragging about and saying that she was going to do, for a couple of weeks prior to the incident. I’m not going to say it was an accident in this case, because she said she would kill me and almost did. I wonder what my children would have thought, or what they would think…..if they didn’t have a mother anymore? Or the love of my life, not to have their half that ma whole anymore? Or my mother have her daughter? Or my grandmother having her #1 granddaughter? Or my best friend, not having their friend anymore? Virginia Frye said I came up there with a gang of people with weapons, then how is it that I almost died from her lack of concern for my life. How many more lies will she tell??? She’s already changed her story three times….how many more lies will it take for her to be seen for the person that she really is? She tried to KILL me, and I’m still not out of the woods yet, my lungs could re-collapse, I could bleed out or anything, and that, I do not think is right. I almost lost my life, and there’s been her three different sides to her story told, each one changing each time, yet, MINE my side of this, has not been told once. I guess I just ended up on the wrong end of the blade…..huh?
