Woman accused of stealing from Corbin printing co.
A London woman has been charged with 63 counts of misdemeanor theft in what police say was a scheme to sell products for a local company, but keep the money for herself.
Joyce Deanna Bundy, 22, was formerly a sales clerk at Chandler Printing Company, Inc. in downtown Corbin when the alleged incidents happened, authorities say. A routine audit of the company revealed missing funds. Corbin Police Capt. Tim Helton, who is investigating the case, said he was notified by state police of the potential misdeeds.
“We got a complaint that there was some money possibly missing from the business,” Helton said. “Basically, through the audit, it was discovered how the transactions occurred and what happened. The owners had done a little of their own investigating and brought everything to us to process the case.”
Bundy turned herself into Corbin Police April 19. She is free on $2,500 bond pending a court appearance June 5 for a pre-trial conference.
Helton would not give the total amount of money police suspect Bundy took from Chandler’s, but said each individual incident was under $300, making each a misdemeanor offense.
“Unless it goes to trial, it’s going to be resolved between the County Attorney, the victim and the accused.”
Helton said he did not interrogate Bundy when she was arrested because she had already obtained legal counsel. She is represented by Corbin attorney David O. Smith.
Chandler Printing Company owner Fred Sulfridge did not return calls Tuesday seeking comment on the case.
