The city of Williamsburg is still working on a permanent solution to a problem that caused a water outage in early July, which left the entire town without water for a time and several others without water for multiple days after the failure of a pair of broken intake pumps at the city’s water treatment plant.
Mayor Roddy Harrison told the city council during its monthly meeting Monday that the water treatment plant is still running with a diesel-powered bypass pump while the city waits for two new electric water intake pumps to be built.
He noted that the pumps have to be custom ordered due to a number of factors, such as the amount of water needed per day, the distance of the intake pump from the water source, etc.
