Williamsburg Police catch wanted fugitive in his Hannah Montana pajamas
Williamsburg police captured a wanted fugitive allegedly wearing his Hannah Montana pajamas late Thursday afternoon, authorities said.
Public Affairs Officer Shawn Jackson said that Chief Wayne Bird received information about a wanted fugitive was living inside the Williamsburg city limits.
Acting upon the tip, Jackson said that police went to 308 N. Third Street apartment number four shortly after 4 p.m. searching for Joshua L. Ball, 24.
"Upon approach, we did talk to some people around the area along with the landlord to confirm that the subject was inside the residence," Jackson said.
Bird, K-9 Officer Brandon Prewitt and K-9 Rico went to the suspect’s door while Jackson waited outside.
"We kind of surrounded the residence," Jackson said. "At one point, the suspect actually came out of a window of his upstairs apartment onto the roof and started to jump."
Jackson said that after Ball saw him standing below, he apparently thought better of jumping.
At that point, Bird, Prewitt and Rico entered the apartment and apprehended the suspect, Jackson said.
"He did show a little bit of resistance, but he ended up being arrested without incident," Jackson said.
Ball was wanted on a arrest warrant taken out by Kentucky State Police Sgt. Bill Elliott for second-degree fleeing or evading police, third-degree assault of a police officer, resisting arrest and receiving stolen property, Jackson said.
Police also served Ball with an arrest warrant in Whitley County for some traffic offenses where he apparently hadn’t paid some fines, Jackson said.
"We wanted to act promptly on this tip because any time there is a felon living inside the city especially less than a block from the courthouse, we want to act on it and act on it quickly to see that the city and the citizens are safe in the downtown area," Jackson said.
"Based on the charges, he seemed like he had a pretty tough reputation, but ironically he had on Hannah Montana pajamas when he was apprehended. He did say that he was glad he got apprehended and that he wanted to face reality, change his life, make himself better and learn from his mistakes."
