Williamsburg Police arrest four following investigation into Thurs. thefts
Four people were charged with receiving stolen property in two separate cases, investigated by Williamsburg Police Detective Bobby Freeman.
Freeman said Thursday he received a call from Larry Goins the owner of Partin’s Grocery on KY 92E, reporting the theft of metal shelving from outside his store. Goins had gone to Eastern Recycling where he was able to locate some of the stolen property. Det. Freeman said while investigating the theft, Goins discovered metal stands and electrical cords had been taken as well. Upon returning to Eastern Recycling, Freeman caught Robert Burke, 36, and 29 year old Robert M. Barton attempting to sell more items. Both were arrested and charged with receiving stolen property under $10,000 and lodged in the Whitley County Detention Center.
On Monday, Det. Freeman investigated a break-in at a home in Rockholds where approximately $30,000 dollars in jewelry and other items had been stolen. An investigation showed that those involved had gained entry to the home through a back door.
The investigation led to a home in Woodbine where Dect. Freeman arrested 24 year old Chad Canada and 23 year old Tarrah Perkins. Police recovered a stolen laptop, flashlight and cell phone from the Canada’s mother’s home in Woodbine where the two had been staying and recovered jewelry from the car the two had been driving.
Other stolen items included: an X- Box and earrings that were recovered at other residences. Perkins was also charged with prescription drugs not in a proper container after admitting to police that she had pills in her bra. Det. Freeman said five, round, green pills were found during a search by KSP Officer Stacy Walker. Perkins is the daughter of the homeowner where the break in occurred. The investigation is continuing. Officer Brandon White, and Trooper Les Moses also assisted with the investigations.
