Williamsburg man pleads guilty to sexually abusing 12-year-old
A Williamsburg man, who allegedly sexually abused a girl nearly three years ago, entered a guilty plea shortly after his trial began last week.
Arvil Lee Croley, 57, of 927 Keswick Road, had been scheduled to stand trial Sept. 29 in Whitley Circuit Court on a first-degree sexual abuse charge.
Shortly after the jury was selected in the case, Croley instead entered a guilty plea to a reduced charge.
Croley pleaded guilty to second-degree sexual abuse, which is a class ‘A’ misdemeanor.
In exchange for the guilty plea, prosecutors recommended a 12-month jail sentence that will be probated for two years.
Judge Paul Braden ordered Croley to be placed on supervised probation for two years, and that he receive sexual offender treatment in an outpatient program while on probation, according to court documents.
According to his indictment, on July 13, 2007, Coley allegedly had sexual contact with a female less than 12 years old.
