Williamsburg man dies in single-vehicle crash Tuesday night
A single vehicle crash Tuesday evening claimed the life of a Williamsburg man.
At 7:10 p.m., Whitley County Coroner Andy Croley pronounced Mark Jones, 35, dead at the scene from "injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident."
The crash happened shortly before 7 p.m. when Jones’ vehicle, a red Toyota Camry, was heading south on Ky. 1804 and struck a concrete railroad bridge support near the Lot Mud Creek Road.
No one else was in the vehicle and no other vehicles were involved in the crash.
No autopsy was ordered but Croley said that a routine blood toxicology test would be performed, which is a standard procedure in the event of a fatal crash.
Emergency responders did not have to extricate the body from the vehicle.
The crash is under investigation by Croley and Kentucky State Police Trooper Les Moses.
Whitley County EMS, South Whitley Volunteer Fire Department and Third-District Constable Dorman Patrick Jr. assisted at the scene.
