Williamsburg man accused of raping young girl

A Williamsburg man is being held in the Whitley County Detention Center in lieu of a $500,000 cash bond following his arrest on charges that he sexually assaulted a girl under the age of 12 years old.
Kentucky State Police Trooper Raymond D. Foley arrested Steve A. Douglas Jr., 56, of 124 S. 10th Street, about 11:39 p.m. Thursday and charged him with first-degree rape and two counts of first-degree sexual abuse of a victim under 12 years of age.
While executing a search warrant at Douglas’ apartment, police recovered several items of girl’s underwear in his nightstand, according to court records.
The alleged assault took place about 9 p.m. on June 26 at Steven Douglas Sr.’s Brown’s Creek residence, and occurred in a bedroom that is occupied by Steven Douglas Jr. when he stays with his father, according to court documents.
"Steven Douglas admitted to the affiant that the assault did occur inside the residence in the bedroom that he sleeps in when he visits his father," Foley wrote in an affidavit for a search warrant. "Steven Douglas Jr. was mirandized and gave a full recorded statement to the affiant detailing the sexual assault."
On Friday, state police executed two search warrants, one Steven Douglas Sr.’s Brown’s Creek residence, and another at Taylor Apartments, where Douglas resided.
Authorities didn’t confiscate anything at the Brown’s Creek residence.
While executing a search warrant at Taylor Apartments, police recovered 13 pairs of girls’ panties, two small white bras, and three garter belts, according to court records.
All the items except one white bra were located in the suspect’s nightstand beside the bed, according to the search warrant.
"Based on the affiant’s training and experience as a trooper, the affiant knows that sexual predators tend to keep trophies of past victims," Foley wrote in the affidavit for the search warrant.
"The affiant also understands that sexual predators can keep pornographic material specific to their tastes. These illegal materials are usually visual in nature and tend to be concealed in places where others will not locate them."
Foley is continuing the investigation and was assisted by KSP Detective David Lassiter and the Williamsburg Police Department.
Anyone with information in reference to this investigation or suspect is urged to contact Trooper Foley or Detective Lassiter at (606) 878-6622 or 1-800-222-5555.
Authorities couldn’t comment on whether there may be additional victims.
Whitley District Judge Cathy Prewitt entered a not guilty plea on Douglas’ behalf during his Tuesday afternoon arraignment. Prewitt scheduled a July 11 preliminary hearing in the case, and appointed the public advocate’s office to represent Douglas.

Wow. This man needs to be in prison with the biggest and nastiest man there as his cell mate. And let him get what he done to that little girl. I just hope they throw the book at him where he will never be set free to harm another child. People like him make me sick to my stomach. jJohn you are so correct. I am sure there are others he’s hurt. Just so sad to think about. Prison is too good for scum like that.
One sad part about this, is you know that this animal has more than likely done this before.
I don’t think someone just starts crimes like this at 56 years old.
Personally i think our judicial system is too lax. When these items were found and he admitted to doing this heinous crime I think the law should have just taken him to the front of the court house and hung him by his neck until he stopped wiggling. But the excuse is that the criminal has rights. What about the rights of this 12 year old little girl that lost her virginity most likely to a monster like this. That is something that is supposed to be for her and her husband, and it happened by a sick old man. Okay, after thinking about it, I’ll bring the rope.
Sorry SOB! Deserves the same thing happen to him when he goes to prison!!! Violently!!
Daily!! Multiple times a day!!
