Williamsburg Little League sign-ups Saturday
Williamsburg Councilwoman Patty Faulkner announced during Monday’s monthly city council meeting that sign-ups for Little League will take place from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. at the Williamsburg Tourism and Convention Center Saturday.
The league is open to all children in the Jellico and Whitley County-Williamsburg area.
Faulkner added that volunteers are definitely still needed for the program this year.
Mayor Roddy Harrison noted that the concession stand is being upgraded at City Park, which is where the Little League games are played.
In addition, lighting at the park has been upgraded after city officials replaced light poles there with ones that had been located at the old driving range outside the Kentucky Splash waterpark.
In addition, during Monday’s meeting Harrison gave a pickleball update.
Williamsburg officials recently started opening the tourism and convention center on Sunday afternoons from 1 – 5 p.m. for people to play pickleball inside.
There has been participation, but Harrison noted that things are going slow right now.
Officials said that they think pickleball participation may go up on Sunday afternoons now that football season has ended.
