Williamsburg eliminates Corbin

Kyle Edminson struck out ten Corbin batters and the Williamsburg defense pulled off two double plays to beat the Corbin Little League All-Stars in the first-round of the District Four Tournament at Corbin’s Rotary Park Tuesday night.
Clay Kysar also belted a two-run homer in top of the first to give Williamsburg the lead for good.
Corbin’s Jayson Stancil got the first two batters he faced, but issued a walk to Edminson. Kysar followed with a home run over the center field fence to put Williamsburg ahead, 2-0.
Corbin threatened in the bottom of the first when Nick Yeager opened with a single up the middle. After Edminson struck out Colin Kidd, Jordan Fox answered with a single down the third base line. The runners ended at second and third and in scoring position for cleanup hitter Peyton Tirey. Edminson struck out Tirey and got Brody Barton to ground out to end the threat.
Williamsburg platted three runs in the top of the third, taking a 5-0 lead. Cameron Bowen opened the scoring with a one-out single up the middle. Brock Bennett hit into an error and Edminson followed with a base hit to load the bases.
Stancil got Edminson to popped out, but he walked Caleb Rains to push Bowen across the plate for a 3-0 lead. Jacob Prewitt followed with a two-run single up the middle as Bennett and Edminson scored to give Williamsburg a 5-0 lead. Rains was thrown out trying to take third to end the inning.
Corbin rallied in the bottom of the fourth when Fox led off with a double up the middle. He went to third on a sacrifice by Tirey, but Edminson struck out Barton and Caleb VanNorstran to get out of the inning.
Edminson was pulled off the mound after using up all of his pitches in the bottom of the sixth.
Prewitt came on to get the save. With a runner at first and one out in the book, Prewitt faced Tirey who hit a grounder to short. Williamsburg recorded the out at second for the second out of the inning.
Barton followed with a double up the middle, driving in Tirey as Corbin rallied to within 5-1.
VanNorstran followed with a single up the middle as Barton scored. But, VanNorstran was thrown out going to second to end the game.
Williamsburg will play Wayne County Wednesday night while Corbin saw their season come to and end. They will play at 6 p.m.
