William J. “Smiley” Cox
William J. “Smiley” Cox, age 94, of Williamsburg, Kentucky departed this life on April 13, 2022 at his home.
He was born to the late James Arthur Cox and Jossie (Jordon) Cox on March 7, 1928 in Williamsburg, Kentucky.
In addition to his parents, he is also preceded in death by his three children, Ronnie Cox, Donna Foster (Danny), and Carolyn Bass (Daniel); brothers, Arthur Damon Cox, Clifford Cox, and Lester Cox; sisters, Elsie Cox, Nellie Rodriguez, and Eudena Ayers.
He is survived by his daughter-in-law, Kathy Cox of Cincinnati, Ohio; grandchildren, Jenny Pollock (Steve), Michael Foster, Dave Barber (Christina), Adrienne Spies (Scott), Laura Bianco (Ben), and Jeremy Bass; ten great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews; special friend, Harry Alder; very special niece, Faye Capps (Ivan); and a host of other family and friends to mourn his passing.
He was a member of Mt. Ash Baptist Church and retired from Ford Motor Company in Ohio.
He was a proud veteran of the US Army serving in Korea. He also worked as a greeter at Williamsburg Walmart and Disel Buhl Service Station till it closed. He always had a big smile, guess that is where he got the name Smiley.
Visitation will be Monday, April 18, 2022 at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel from 12:00 PM until 2:00 PM. Funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM Monday, April 18, at the Croley Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Billy Carpenter officiating. He will be laid to rest in the Croley Addition at Highland Park Cemetery in Williamsburg, Kentucky.
