Willard “Jake” Mabe
Willard “Jake” Mabe, 79, of Corbin, departed this life on Tuesday, February 6, 2018, at his home in Corbin.
Born May 3, 1938 in Stonega, VA, he was the son of the late James Clint & Mary (Griffith) Mabe.
Jake was a retired Brakeman/Conductor for the CSX railroad, and was a veteran of the United States Air Force, a member of United Transportation Union, and enjoyed flea markets, hunting and fishing.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Patsy Gibbs Mabe; seven brothers: Junior, Garnett, Tom, Buck, and James Mabe and Arthur, and Martin D. Smith; three sisters: Marie Caruso, Louise Dorton, and Julene Shaw.
Jake is survived by three children: Jeff Mabe and wife Trish, of Corbin, Jamie Mabe and wife April of Brunswick, GA, and Terri Barrett and husband Dean of Corbin; two sisters, Yvonne Durham and husband Johnny of Corbin, and Betty Moore of Sumter, SC; six grandchildren: Scott Morgan, Casey Mabe, Tony Hensley and wife Katherine, Bethany Hensley, Austin Mabe, Aaron Mabe; three great grandchildren, Jeffrey Hensley, Sammie Hensley, Kade Mabe; and a host of relatives and friends who mourn his passing.
Funeral services were held Sunday, February 11, at the O’Neil – Lawson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bobby Joe Eaton, and Rev. Allen Bonnell officiating.
Burial followed in the Corinth Cemetery with grandsons, and Jim and Johnny Durham as pallbearers.
O’Neil – Lawson Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
