Wilbert “Bill” McKinney
Wilbert “Bill” McKinney, 70, of the Buffalo Community, Corbin, passed away Tuesday October 31, 2017 at his home.
He was born February 11, 1947 in Whitley County, to the late John and Leona Faulkner McKinney.
Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his twin brother Milburn McKinney and a sister Phyllis McKinney.
He was a member and deacon of Frankfort Baptist Church and he also served as deacon of Buffalo Baptist Church.
In 1970 Wilbert married the love of his life and best friend Betty. For 47 years they loved and cherished one another’s company and time together.
Wilbert loved hunting, fishing and working in the garden with Betty.
Together they spent many happy days on the water, woods and their farm. Wilbert retired as a #1 Shop Tech from Whayne Supply after 31 years of service.
He is survived by his wife Betty McKinney of Corbin; a sister; Carrie Huddleston (Rev. Lowell) of Corbin, four brothers; Dan McKinney (Regina) of Corbin, Bob McKinney of Manchester, Tommy McKinney (Karen) of Corbin, Johnny McKinney (Theresa) of Corbin, mother-in-law; Novella Floyd, special nephews; Matthew McKinney and Jordan Floyd, several nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
The funeral service was held Saturday, November 4, at Frankfort Baptist Church with Rev. James Hodge and Rev. Matthew McKinney officiating.
Interment was at Ryan’s Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Austin McKinney, Bobby McKinney, John McKinney, Josh McKinney, David Floyd, Joe Floyd, Jordan Floyd and William Floyd.
Honorary pallbearers were members of Frankfort Baptist Church.
In lieu of flowers contributions may be made to The American Cancer Society or Bluegrass Hospice Care.
