Whitley, Laurel, Knox and Bell all remain in the red

While 101 counties have escaped the red zone, Whitley, Laurel, Knox and Bell counties all have COVID incidence rates greater than 25.

Whitley County

The Whitley County Health Department announced seven additional COVID–19 cases on Tuesday, bringing the county’s total to 3,374.

There are currently 94 active cases, of which five are hospitalized.

With the new cases, Whitley County’s COVID–19 incidence rate stands at 37.

Laurel County

The Laurel County Health Department announces weekly numbers on Mondays. The health department reported nine new deaths Monday stating the deaths had occurred between Feb. 20 and 28.

Laurel County COVID–19 incidence rate Tuesday stands at 25.8.

Knox County

The Knox County Kentucky Health Department announced 31 additional cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, bringing the county’s total to 3,175.

Seven of the new cases involved children, officials stated.

There are currently 104 active cases in Knox County.

With the additional cases, Knox County’s COVID–19 incidence rate stands at 41.3.

Bell County

The Bell County Health Department announced six additional COVID–19 cases, bringing the county’s total to 2,771.

There are currently 81 active cases, of which five are hospitalized.

With the additional cases, Bell County’s COVID–19 incidence rate stands at 35.1.

Statewide

Gov. Andy Beshear announced 1,080 additional COVID–19 cases in Kentucky on Tuesday, bringing the state’s total to 406,201.

Beshear reported 19 additional deaths, bringing the death toll to 4,671.

Beshear said 684 Kentuckians are currently hospitalized, of which 178 are in intensive care.

As of Tuesday, 19 of Kentucky’s 120 counties have a COVID–19 incidence rate greater than 25, which places them in the red zone.

Seventy-eight counties are orange zones.

Twenty-three counties have an incidence rate less than 10 which means they are in the yellow zone.

Caldwell County has the highest incidence rate at 237.6.
