Police recovered a stolen bulldozer, and several trailers, at a Laurel County residence Monday.
A Whitley County Sheriff’s Department Detective was instrumental this week in recovering a stolen bulldozer in Laurel County.
Detective Bill Riley, a retired Kentucky State Police investigator who focused on auto theft, assisted four members of the Laurel County Sheriff’s Department Monday in the recovery of the bulldozer, discovered at a home on Raccoon Creek Road.
According to Laurel County Sheriff John Root, authorities responded to a report of a bulldozer theft from a construction sight on Bill George Road overnight Sunday. Through leads, investigators went to Reed’s Construction and discovered a suspected stolen trailer, used for hauling heavy equipment, and also two smaller trailers. All the equipment had obscured identification numbers. The items were discovered near a residence and garage on the property.
In the woods behind the residence and garage, hidden from view, was the stolen D5 Caterpillar bulldozer along with a reportedly stolen Western Star tri axle dump truck taken from Monticello. The truck was allegedly used to steal the bulldozer.
Arrested in connection with the theft was Casey L. Reed, 29, of London. He was charged with receiving stolen property $10,000 or more in value, theft over $10,000, first degree possession of a controlled substance, possession of marijuana, prescription controlled substance not in proper container and possession of drug paraphernalia.
When police searched Reed they found a small quantity of what they suspect is methamphetamine, along with marijuana and some Xanax pills.
Reed was lodged in the Laurel County Detention Center.
