Whitley County students graduate from The Center ’s 2019 Class of Rogers Scholars

Corbin High School students Nancy Jane Jackson, Grant Dickerson, and Lauren Shackleford and Williamsburg Independent student Collin Taylor graduated this summer from The Center for Rural Development’s 2019 Rogers Scholars program.
Rogers Scholars—The Center’s flagship youth program—is an intensive one-week summer program that provides valuable leadership skills and exclusive college scholarship opportunities for high school students in Southern and Eastern Kentucky to help seize their potential as the region’s next generation of business and entrepreneurial leaders.
Jackson and Dickerson attended the first of two summer sessions of the Rogers Scholars program held June 9-14 on the campus of Lindsey Wilson College.
Shackleford and Taylor attended the second session of Rogers Scholars held July 14-19 on the campus of Morehead State University.

Taylor was selected by his peers to represent his graduating class as a Rogers Scholars Ambassador. Ambassadors continue to work with the Rogers Scholars program to help plan special events and activities for alumni members.
“I cannot wait to see what the future holds for this talented young group of leaders,” said Lonnie Lawson, President and CEO of The Center for Rural Development.
Jackson is the daughter of Brent Jackson and Jenni Lou Jackson.
Dickerson is the son of Larry Wayne Dickerson and Emily Rachel Dickerson.
Shackleford is the daughter of George and Melissa Shackleford, all of Corbin.

Taylor is the son of Randal Taylor and Sherry Taylor of Williamsburg.
There is no tuition charge to attend Rogers Scholars and lodging and food are provided at no cost to participants.
