Whitley County sees 342 new COVID–19 cases this week
The Whitley County Health Department announced 342 new COVID–19 cases over the last week.
Officials noted that is a 49.4 percent increase over the previous week.
The largest number of cases in a single day this week occurred on Wednesday when 108 cases were reported.
“None were vaccinated,” officials noted that 33.6 percent of Whitley Countians are fully vaccinated
As of Friday there are 358 active cases.
According to data provided by the health department, the number of new cases are approximately the same as early December when the COVID–19 vaccines were beginning to be dispensed.
As of Thursday afternoon, Whitley County’s COVID–19 incidence rate stood at 137.1.
Clay County continues to have the highest incidence rate among Kentucky’s 120 counties at 216.1.
Six Kentucky counties remains outside of the incidence rate red zone.
