Whitley County remains in the orange zone

Whitley County remains in the orange zone with a COVID-19 incidence rate of 16.9, but Laurel, Knox and Bell counties all stay firmly in the red zone.

Whitley County

The Whitley County Health Department announced six additional COVID–19 cases on Tuesday, bringing the county’s total to 3,431.

There are currently 63 active cases, of which five are hospitalized.

Laurel County

The Laurel County Health Department announces weekly numbers on Mondays. The health department reported 120 new cases Monday stating the cases had been reported between March 1 through 7.

Laurel County COVID–19 incidence rate Tuesday stands at 29.4.

Knox County

The Knox County Kentucky Health Department announced 19 additional cases of COVID-19 on Tuesday, bringing the county’s total to 3,240.

Four of the new cases involved children, officials stated.

There are currently 93 active cases in Knox County.

With the additional cases, Knox County’s COVID–19 incidence rate stands at 28.4.

Bell County

The Bell County Health Department announced six additional COVID–19 cases, bringing the county’s total to 2,826.

There are currently 78 active cases, of which six are hospitalized.

With the additional cases, Bell County’s COVID–19 incidence rate stands at 30.7.

Statewide

Gov. Andy Beshear announced 880 additional COVID–19 cases in Kentucky on Tuesday, bringing the state’s total to 4,850.

Beshear reported 21 additional deaths, bringing the death toll to 4,850.

Beshear said 551 Kentuckians are currently hospitalized, of which 147 are in intensive care.

As of Tuesday, 107 of Kentucky’s 120 counties have a COVID–19 incidence rate greater than 25, which places them in the red zone.

Sixty-one counties are orange zones.

Forty-five counties have an incidence rate less than 10 which means they are in the yellow zone.

Elliott County is in the green zone with an incidence rate at 0.

Lyon County has the highest incidence rate at 351.5.
